Wellness & Care on the East Coast
Discover where to take care of yourself on the Corsican East Coast, between local produce and relaxation areas!
Wellness on the East Coast
On the Costa Verde, between San-Nicolao, Moriani-Plage and Cervione, the coastal plain of the East Coast backs directly onto the mountains of Castagniccia. It is in this setting, both maritime and verdant, that our three verified wellness addresses are concentrated: an essential oil garden, an institute specialising in Japanese head spa, and an ephemeral massage venue combining treatment and bathing. Enough to build a genuine moment of relaxation alongside beach days.
It is also the only area in the network where, to date, such a structured wellness offering can be found: elsewhere in Haute-Corse, relaxation comes mainly through landscapes and outdoor activities, whereas here, three distinct addresses allow you to compose a truly dedicated moment, whether you are looking for a one-off treatment, a plant-based immersion or a massage followed by a swim.

Corsican aromatherapy, a local specialty
The Côte Orientale, backed by the foothills of the Castagniccia, concentrates a large part of Corsica's production of essential oils. Several family estates have been cultivating and distilling immortelle, calendula, Laricio pine, laurel or lentisk for decades using organic farming methods, supplying ranges of natural cosmetics: face and body care, massage oils, serums, artisanal perfumery. Some even offer a free guided tour of their aromatic garden during the season, generally from June to September, complemented by an on-site dining area. It's an activity that appeals both to lovers of natural cosmetics and to curious passers-by, without necessarily coming for a treatment.
Beyond the simple shop, it's often the experience of the visit that sets these places apart: walking through the rows of plants before understanding how they are transformed into essential oil in the laboratory gives a whole new dimension to the products you buy afterwards. These estates generally operate using biodynamic farming or supervised wild harvesting in the surrounding maquis, with a production chain entirely controlled on site, from cultivation through to distillation.
The head spa, a treatment still rare in Corsica
The area is home to one of the few institutes in Haute-Corse offering the Japanese head spa: a scalp treatment combining massage, hair products and sometimes steam, designed as a moment of relaxation in its own right rather than a simple technical treatment. This type of institute generally complements this specialty with a more classic offering (face and body care, scrubs, wraps, massages, manicure, waxing), with high-end cosmetic ranges featuring textures and scents inspired by the Orient or Asia. For a first head spa experience, it's better to opt for a short formula rather than a full sequence.
This type of treatment is still fairly confidential in France, more developed in the major cities: finding it directly on the Costa Verde is a pleasant surprise for anyone wanting to discover the practice without waiting for a trip to Paris or another big city. The atmosphere of these institutes is generally designed for a truly suspended moment, far from the express aesthetic sometimes found elsewhere.
Massage and pool, a formula that leaves time for relaxation
Near Cervione, there's an original formula of around 1h30 that combines an energy massage with Ayurvedic oils and access to a pool area with refreshments, to extend the relaxation without rushing the moment. Expect generally around €70 for this type of complete formula. The appeal of this format: rather than heading straight out after the treatment, you still enjoy three-quarters of an hour to let the tension subside before getting back on the road, which is a change from the express formula found in many classic institutes.
This type of formula is particularly appealing in high season, when the heat makes a massage followed by a swim much more pleasant than a treatment in a closed cabin. It's also a good option after a morning at the beach or a hike in the hinterland, to continue without having to go home and change before enjoying the water.
A wellness area directly at the campsite
If you're staying on the Costa Verde, some campsites in the area have their own wellness area with spa, sauna and solarium accessible to their holidaymakers. It's a practical option for a quick moment of relaxation at the end of the day, without having to book elsewhere, complementing the specialised addresses presented above for a more complete treatment. Check directly with your accommodation to find out whether it offers this type of facility.
A raw material common to the whole area
It's no coincidence that the various treatment addresses on the Côte Orientale each rely, in their own way, on the same resources: the Ayurvedic oils used in massage sit alongside the hair and cosmetic products worked with in institutes, in a region where aromatherapy is almost part of the landscape. This plant-based identity is reflected as much in the treatments practised on site as in the products you can take home, which clearly sets this area apart from other regions of Haute-Corse.
Treatments for the family: the same precautions as elsewhere
Child policies vary from one establishment to another, and are not always publicly specified: the safest approach is to call before booking a slot, particularly for a massage or head spa, which are primarily aimed at adults. For a family outing, visiting an aromatic garden is often the most accessible option for children, provided you check the access conditions beforehand.
When to book a treatment in the Eastern Plain
The estates offering a visit to their aromatic garden generally close earlier and less often out of season, with reduced hours on weekdays from October to May: if this visit particularly interests you, opt for a visit between June and September, when opening hours are extended and free guided tours are offered. For a one-off treatment in an institute or a massage, booking remains possible all year round, but summer slots go quickly: plan a few days ahead in peak season.
