BASTIA AND CAP CORSICA

Stretching between the blue of the sea and the green of the mountain, Bastia is often a point of arrival for northern Corsica: the arrival by ferry in the early morning is unforgettable, with the rays of the sun lighting up the walls of the citadel and the warm colors that envelop its colorful facades.

During the day or in the evening, you will not be able to escape a short stop at Place Saint Nicolas, a place of life and rest, opening onto the Mediterranean.

Bastia is both the start of a vacation but also an end, the one that ends the Isle of Beauty with Cap Corse. Between Saint-Florent and the capital of Haute-Corse, the sea is omnipresent along the Corniche road, alternating white lace coves where the waves of the Mediterranean curl up, and landscapes of myrtle, broom or strawberry trees overlooking the sparkling blue of the sea.

The region is magical, bordered by small villages, each more picturesque than the other: it is not for nothing that we find Erbalunga there, the favorite village of painters, or the charming little port of Macinaggio, starting point for go see dolphins by boat.

If you look carefully, you can still find a few fields of well-hidden citrons, these deliciously acidic citrus fruits which are used in the composition of a liqueur typical of the region, cedratine, which some distilleries still work with.

Obviously take the time to make a few stops to admire the sunset over Cap Corse or to go swimming at the end of the island on one of the most beautiful beaches at the tip of the island, Barcaccio Beach. .

BALAGNE AND THE WESTERN COAST

La Balagne… this is a mythical name that has made thousands of travelers dream as this region which extends from the mouth of the Regino to the escarpments of Monte-Cinto is in itself a small summary of Corsica. Between the citadel of Calvi and Saint-Florent, it is a rich land, where we find the main agricultural productions of the island, such as the famous Corsican olive oil.

Sheltered from the wind by the high mountain peaks, this region of Conca d’Oro and the slopes of Nebbiu is also home to part of the Corsican vineyards, around the small village of Patrimonio, renowned for its AOC wines and muscats.

Apart from these fine sandy beaches, the Gulf of Saint-Florent region reveals some wonders, notably the Agriates desert which can be visited on foot, by car, by mountain bike or even… by boat from Saint-Florent , with 35/40 km of coastline and among the most beautiful paradise beaches on the island.

The most courageous will devote a long day of walking to the Coastal Path, which follows the jagged coast between Saint-Florent and Ostriconi: breathtaking landscapes guaranteed… provided you have good breathing and good physical condition ! The less courageous will simply follow the Sentier des Douaniers to access, in an hour’s walk from Saint-Florent, one of the most beautiful beaches in Haute-Corse, that of Saleccia, whose transparency of the water will invite you to contemplate. and a well-deserved swim.

THE HISTORICAL HEART

Lovers of history and wild nature will not be able to miss the region of Corte, the historic capital of Corsica, where villages, citadels, fortresses and green foothills combine wonderfully.

Monte Cinto (2710 m) or the Niolu High Plateaux offer you majestic and grandiose sites, where you feel overwhelmed by the beauty of nature. Between austere landscapes and mountain lakes with splendid turquoise reflections, you are immersed in the very heart of Corsican identity, made of silence and respect.

THE EASTERN COAST, THE LAND OPEN TO THE SEA

Between sea and mountains, the eastern coast brings together a large part of the main fine sandy beaches, with the mountain and numerous perched villages in the background.

Around Moriani Plage, the Costa Verde offers any vacationer a subtle alliance between the authentic beauty of the landscapes and all the leisure activities of seaside resorts.

As is often the case in Corsica, reasoned tourist development allows everyone to find what they need between relaxation and cultural visits, between the pleasures of Corsican gastronomy and sporting activities.
