Things to know before travelling to Haute-Corse
Book your ferry early: In July-August, crossings to Corsica are fully booked months in advance. From Nice, Marseille or Toulon, the companies Corsica Linea and La Méridionale serve Bastia and L'Île-Rousse. Plan your crossing as soon as your campsite booking is confirmed.
Rent a vehicle on site: Haute-Corse is an island to explore freely. Outside the main seaside resorts, public transport remains limited. A car is essential to reach the most beautiful beaches, village markets or high-altitude hikes. Book your rental in advance, especially during high season.
Choosing the right time of year: June and September offer the best of both worlds: guaranteed sunshine, a sea at a pleasant temperature and less crowded campsites. Prices are also more affordable than in the height of August. For families with young children, July remains the ideal time to make the most of the kids’ clubs and entertainment.
Consider cancellation insurance: Sea weather conditions and the vagaries of the tourist season (ferry strikes, unforeseen health issues) can disrupt a trip to Corsica. Cancellation insurance or a flexible booking option is highly recommended, especially for stays booked long in advance.
Water and heat: In Haute-Corse, temperatures can exceed 35°C in July and August. Remember to pack plenty of sun cream, stay hydrated regularly and plan any physical activities (hiking, cycling) for the morning if possible. All our partner campsites have water points and shaded areas.
