THE VILLAGE OF ERBALUNGA

Erbalunga, “a nest for painters”

On your tour of Cap Corse and its most beautiful villages, stop at Erbalunga,

The painters’ nest”, a small hamlet in Cap Corse located just 10 km from Bastia which has inspired many island painters. You will appreciate this authentic and charming fishing village with its colorful houses around its fishing port, its old town and its shops. Stroll through the cobbled streets, arched passages and squares pleasantly shaded by plane trees and palm trees.

Erbalunga is an ancient village in Corsica located precisely in the commune of Brando, in Cap Corse. During your visit to this Corsican village, you will not miss the charming little port and the Erbalunga Tower, a 16th century Genoese tower, in ruins but which is the subject of numerous photographs. Its church of Saint-Erasmus (protector of sailors) and its baroque facade celebrates, at the beginning of June, the blessing of the sea and boats.

Not far from Erbalunga, in the hamlet of Castellu, visit the Notre Dame des Neiges sanctuary which dates from the 11th and 14th century. This sanctuary contains very precious frescoes and engraved lintels.

In the summer, Erbalunga offers humorous and musical festivals which take place in the Théâtre de Verdure. Every year in mid-August, in Brando, the Erbalunga Music Festival takes place, which has welcomed the big names in French music since 1989.
