THE UCELLULINE WATERFALL

Between the villages of Santa Maria Poggio and San Nicolao, come and discover the Ulcelluline waterfall and its natural pools. The site is illuminated at night.

Arriving by road, at the exit of the San Nicolao tunnel carved straight into the rock, is already very picturesque and quite spectacular in itself.
On the Corniche road, between two tunnels, signs then indicate the waterfall and its river Bucatoggio.

It is not always easy to find a spot: one solution is to park your car before the tunnel, as you will find a small car park near the Fontaine di a Serpentina, which dates back to 1910.

Do not hesitate to stop in this small village of San Nicolao, very typical, which will remind you on a much smaller scale of the most beautiful Corsican villages.

It is a wild, preserved site, with the cool and limpid water of the Bucatoggio that will eventually flow into the sea. This waterfall that opens up to your view from the bridge nevertheless remains secret, as its access on foot is steep and requires caution.

It is not recommended for children, the elderly and visitors with pets.

This path that climbs steeply, with rock that is sometimes slippery and wet, starts on the right and allows you to reach the pool located about 30 metres above the bridge. From the top you will have a very beautiful panorama over the waterfall and the surroundings.

It is a very popular walk by day, which can be done at night because the lighting gives it a somewhat phantasmagorical air, especially when there is a little vaporous and mysterious mist: it is the ideal moment to reread Corsican tales and legends!

However, you must be extremely vigilant so as not to fall on the path.

The discovery of the Ucceline Waterfall and San Nicolao is done fairly quickly. It is a small easy excursion from the accommodations of Moriani-Plage, if you wish to escape a little from the heat of the coast to find some freshness and greenery, all in less than 15 minutes!

The bravest who climb up to the pool will be able to swim in the natural pool of Bucatoghju in San-Nicolao, cool water guaranteed!

From Moriani-Plage, allow about 15 minutes by car passing via the D 334 towards Mucchio: there is barely 7 km between the beach and the waterfall.
