So many beautiful villages to see during your stay in Balagne Haute-Corse ! Among all its typical villages with exceptional heritage, discover Lama ! A small, atypical village in the Ostriconi valley, located between landscapes of jagged rocks and green maquis. The only “green resort” in Corsica, it has managed to preserve its natural environment and enhance its territory.

Village labeled with flowers and green resort

Classified 4 flowers with its “flower village” label and the only green resort, Lama is one of the most visited Corsican villages in Corsica. It attracts many visitors who want to get a glimpse of the personality of the island, as well as motivated hikers who want to climb up to Monto Astu (1,535 m above sea level) and admire the extraordinary views of the beautiful coastline and the high peaks of northern Corsica.

The village also offers a multitude of leisure offers, activities for all and cultural events: swimming pool, tennis court, festivals and exhibitions, gastronomy and local products.

Medieval village, with architecture preserved today, Lama was hit by the rural exodus during the last century. Municipal policies have emerged and developed to promote green tourism and heritage rehabilitation. The architectural particularity of the village of Lama is the harmonious marriage of two different styles: the old quarter and the houses stuck to the rock dating from the Middle Ages, built in an “eagle’s nest”, around the “torra”, a watchtower as found in other island places. Other more bourgeois houses dating from the 18th century, belonging to olive producers.

To fully enjoy your walk in this ancient medieval village, follow the signposted route which leaves from the casa cumuna (town hall). Don’t forget to visit the parish church of Lama built in the mid-16th century under the name of Notre-Dame des Grâces.
