A sandy coast, more suited to line fishing than spearfishing
On this part of the island, the seabed is flat and sandy rather than rocky: ideal for surfcasting from the beach, in search of sea bass, sea bream, or mullet, but less suitable for spearfishing, which requires reliefs and rocky structures to concentrate fish. The mouths of the Tavignano and Fium'Orbo, where fresh water mixes with seawater, are particularly sought-after spots for line fishermen. Spearfishing remains possible, but mainly around the rare rocky areas or artificial rock structures, rather than along the entire coastline.
The ponds of Diane and Urbino: a different kind of fishing
The ponds of Diane and Urbino, around Aléria, are rich in sea bass, sea bream, eels, and sea wolves, but they are not open waters like others: they are lagoons exploited since antiquity for oyster and mussel farming, with traditional fishing rights (bordigues, verveux, paradières) dating back to the 19th century. Access for recreational fishing is therefore not automatic, and it is best to inquire locally before settling in with a line. To enjoy these lagoons differently, a kayak trip allows you to observe the wildlife and oyster parks without fishing rights constraints.

To head offshore, a boat rental from Ghisonaccia or Aléria allows you to fish for sea bream, sea bass, or mackerel beyond the coastal strip, away from the conceded pond zones.
