From Bastia to Aléria, the East Coast reveals a completely different profile from the rest of Haute-Corse: long stretches of gently sloping fine sand beaches, generally calm waters and few steep coastal reliefs. Moriani-Plage and the Costa Verde, a particularly favorable area
The Costa Verde stretches over about twenty kilometers of continuous beaches, without the rocky headlands that fragment the west coast. This configuration offers an open body of water, with enough space for the tow boat's back-and-forth runs, and a depth that increases gradually, a real comfort for beginners who often dread getting into the water.
Why this coast is particularly well suited to beginners
The gentle slope of the seabed, the absence of any marked current and the usually small swell in this area make it a reassuring setting for a first session. The eastern side of Corsica is generally less exposed to the dominant westerly winds (libecciu, tramontane), which blow harder over Balagne and Cap Corse, which largely explains the usual stability of the water surface on the Costa Verde. An easterly wind, the grecale, can occasionally stir up a bit of sea, especially outside the summer period, but this remains occasional in this area.

A few kilometres from the beach, the Ucelluline waterfall and its natural pools offer a refreshing break after a water sports session. Further inland, the villages of the Castagniccia, such as Cervione, reveal another side of Haute-Corse, between chestnut groves and baroque churches. Further south, the Aléria archaeological site and its museum trace more than 2,500 years of occupation, from the Greek era to the Roman period.
Getting started with wakeboarding as a family on the Costa Verde
As everywhere in Haute-Corse, the activity is supervised by state-certified instructors, with suitable equipment and a briefing before entering the water. A life jacket remains mandatory, including for good swimmers. If you are travelling with young children, the minimum age and available packages vary from one place to another: it is best to ask when booking.
When to go wakeboarding on the East Coast?
The season generally runs from May to October, with spring and early autumn particularly pleasant: the water is already warm, visitor numbers are more reasonable and sailing conditions are stable. In the height of summer, the usual calmness of the water surface remains an asset, even if beach attendance increases noticeably.

Across Haute-Corse, an introductory wakeboarding session generally costs between €35 and €50 for fifteen to twenty actual minutes, depending on the duration and package chosen (single session or multi-activity pack with towable ride or paddleboard). In high season, it is best to book a few days in advance for the most in-demand time slots.
